Companion applications
An app should earn its place in the project.
BPS supports responsive websites, installable websites, Android apps, and iPhone apps—but recommends native delivery only when the functionality justifies the added cost and lifecycle.
Start with the least expensive capable delivery
Most local businesses should begin with a strong responsive website. An installable website can add a device icon and app-like return experience without ordinary store publication. Native delivery follows only when the business needs more.
- Professional website for credibility, leads, content, booking links, and commerce
- Installable website for frequent return access and limited offline information
- Native app for meaningful accounts, history, notifications, device features, or offline workflows
Purpose-built—not a dressed-up wrapper
The companion-app delivery system uses the same approved business data and branding as the website, but the native source remains isolated. Booking and payment capabilities use truthful adapters or hosted provider actions rather than fake implementations.
- Shared client specification prevents duplicate intake
- Separate Android and iPhone distribution plans
- Client-owned developer accounts and signing ownership
- Another qualified developer can continue the project after handoff
Future maintenance remains a real consideration
Native platforms and app stores change. BPS does not promise that an app will remain compatible forever without technical work. Future platform updates are the client’s responsibility or separately quoted work.
- No mandatory BPS maintenance retainer
- No BPS-owned app-store lock-in
- Store fees and provider costs shown separately
- App publication never occurs without explicit authorization
Companion delivery
Website first. Installable when useful. Native only when justified.
Begin with a professional website. Add an installable or native experience only when it gives customers a useful reason to return.
Best for most businesses: accessible on every modern device, no app-store account, and one client-owned production system.
